Club-to-club negotiations are expected to accelerate after the World Cup.The player’s preference appears to lie with Arsenal. Chelsea and Manchester United have also monitored him.Arsenal ready to bid for Aston Villa’s Morgan RogersVilla will drive a hard bargain, however. The Midlands club are expected to demand well over £130m, with some reports suggesting a figure close to the £116m Manchester City paid for Elliot Anderson. Rogers signed a contract until 2031 last year, handing Villa a strong hand.Arteta sees him as a long-term solution on the left flank. Rogers is predominantly a central player, but Arsenal believe he can excel wide, filling the void left by Leandro Trossard’s departure to Besiktas. His output makes the interest easy to understand. Rogers scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 55 appearances last season, helping Villa win the Europa League and finish fourth. He then starred for England on their run to the World Cup semi-finals.Arsenal have cleared space for a marquee addition, too. Trossard has left, while Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus are both available should suitable offers arrive.Whether Villa can be persuaded to sell remains the key question. With personal terms said to be moving in the right direction, Arsenal’s focus is now on convincing the Midlands club to part with one of the Premier League’s brightest talents.
