And if so, who joins them? Here’s who Gabby Agbonlahor and Troy Deeney think deserve to be among the best 11 players of the summer: Instagram star and Spain’s defenceAgbonlahor, of course, started off with his defence, making a simple choice for his back four after selecting a star goalkeeper.“There have been some good goalkeeping performances, but I have to give it to Vozinha,” the ex-England striker began.“Two clean sheets, five goals conceded, clean sheet against Spain, who went on to win the tournament. “That just shows how good of a performance it was…a fantastic tournament and he got a load of Instagram followers.”He then moved on to his back four and simply selected the entire Spain defence, picking Pedro Porro, Pau Cubarsi, Aymeric Laporte and Marc Cucurella.“Porro, I think he was fantastic, passion, determination…Cucurella is one of the best in the world, and Cubarsi and Laporte, how they played was incredible,” Agbonlahor explained.Cape Verde’s Vozinha was one of the heroes of the 2026 World CupGetty‘A credit to the nation’He then moved on to his midfield, including Player of the Tournament, Rodri, and picking England’s main man.“Rodri went through a terrible knee injury…that was Ballon d’Or Rodri; those were the performances we’ve seen,” he said.“He’s not been the same player since his injury, but any talk we were having of him going from City, now fans and Enzo Maresca will be saying no, Rodri will be starting with Elliot Anderson.”Agbonlahor then selected: “Alongside him I want Dani Olmo…Spain play to his strengths, behind the striker, receiving the ball, finding passes, I thought he was fantastic. “And also in midfield, Jude Bellingham. Words can’t describe how good he is, seven goals, one assist, the most goals by an English player at a World Cup.“What he’s proved to everyone is that he’s a leader, a future captain, and he did everything in the tournament to get us over the line…the manager cost us…I thought he was a credit to the nation”Bellingham made Agbonlahor’s XI for his showing, but Kane was omittedGettyKane left outBellingham is the only England player in Agbonlahor’s World Cup XI, as he opted against including Harry Kane in the team.Kane scored six goals at the tournament and became the country’s all-time top scorer there, but he didn’t claim a place.The Three Lions captain was snubbed amid some criticism for his performances, with three stars picked over him.Agbonlahor explained: “The front three speak for themselves: Mbappe, 10 goals, four assists, Lionel Messi, eight goals, four assists, Erling Haaland, seven goals, zero assists.“They were fantastic and it was a pleasure to see a World Cup where the top, top players turned up.”Agbonlahor’s World Cup TOTT: Vozinha; Porro, Cubarsi, Laporte, Cucurella; Rodri, Olmo, Bellingham; Messi, Mbappé, Haaland.Troy Deeney’s Team of the TournamentSimilarly to Agbonlahor, Deeney couldn’t help but have Spain dominate the defence in his best XI of the World Cup.He also picked Cubarsi and Cucurella, adding in goalkeeper Unai Simon over Cape Verde’s hero Vozinha.On Simon and the Spanish defence, Deeney said: “He’s been unreal… when you only let in one goal, that’s frightening.”The former Premier League striker went on to select what he called a ‘wildcard’, with Lisandro Martinez being picked.
