When you custom-order a premium beverage at Starbucks, you expect the kitchen staff to follow your modifications. But for Oklahoma creator Gabrielle Emerson (@gabrielle.emerson), an extra base order turned into a frustrating standoff after a stubborn barista allegedly decided to police her order. In a viral TikTok video that has already amassed a massive 2 million views, Emerson asked her audience for a reality check regarding a baffling interaction with a Starbucks drive-thru crew. What she expected to be a sweet, flavorful treat instead left her devastated, according to her. Emerson asked for her Blackberry Refresher with extra base at Starbucks, but got a transparent beverage The issue allegedly developed when Emerson pulled up to the Starbucks window to order a Blackberry Refresher. Because she prefers a highly concentrated, rich flavor, she said she requested a heavy splash of extra base. When the worker finally handed her the cup, she allegedly noticed that the color was completely wrong. Instead of the deep, vibrant purple hue she was expecting, the drink supposedly looked entirely washed out. “It’s the lightest color I’ve ever seen even when I get it just normal without extra base,” Emerson claimed. After taking a quick trial sip, she confirmed her suspicions. The drink tasted remarkably weak and allegedly lacked the extra base she had requested. Emerson asked the Starbucks staff to add the extra base to her order, but was thrown off by their alleged response @gabrielle.emerson_ #storytime #gabrielle #starbucks ♬ original sound – gabrielle.emerson_ Hoping to rectify the quick mixing error, Emerson politely addressed the drive-thru attendant. “Hey, could you just add some extra base to this please?” she asked. The window worker turned back to the kitchen line to request the fix. According to the creator, the barista on duty rejected the modification. She claimed she could hear the entire exchange through the open window partition. The employee purportedly refused to grab the bottle, telling her coworker: “I filled it up to here, so she’s had plenty.” The window attendant then returned to the sill and handed the unaltered drink straight back across the frame. Per Emerson, he issued a weak shrug: “Sorry, like she said, she added enough.” Emerson then asked the employee to throw her drink away Stunned by the supposed flat-out refusal to remake the beverage or even add the requested splash of extra base, Emerson tried to take another sip. However, she realized she absolutely hated it. She then refused to drive away with a ruined drink, and said she handed the full cup straight back to the worker. Emerson then issued a calm request: “Can you throw this away for me please?” After this, she closed out her viral video by asking her community to determine if her reaction was rude. She also pointed out that she had just spent nearly $9 on the transaction. “I just like paid what, $7 for the drink and then I tipped $2 on top of that.” The internet slammed the barista’s alleged policy violation In the comment section, viewers and corporate employees validated her frustration. Believing her account to be true, they slammed the store’s terrible service standards. “As a Starbucks employee, why are they acting like adding more base comes out of their pockets? We’re literally told during training to do whatever we can to make the moment right,” one user revealed. Another added, “It’s actually their policy to remake it. You should never be denied a fix on a drink you customized.” One suggested, “You can report the store and get a refund on the app. I just do this now because it’s never worth interacting with the baristas there lmao.” Ultimately, standing up for your wallet isn’t an overreaction. When you pay for a premium beverage, you are entirely entitled to receive exactly what you paid for. Have you ever had a drive-thru worker flat-out refuse to fix a clear mistake on your order?
