Two Malta Police officers have shared an emotional reunion with the man they helped save following a serious traffic accident in Sliema earlier this year.PC K. Scicluna and PC R. Tonna, who are stationed at the Road Policing Unit, met Maurice Galea for the first time since the incident on 6th May, during a visit to Mater Dei Hospital. The officers had been on patrol when passers-by alerted them to a crash involving a man trapped between a car and a truck.Without hesitation, the pair improvised a tourniquet using a belt, wrapping it tightly around Mr Galea’s leg to help stop the severe bleeding until medical assistance arrived.During the emotional meeting, Mr Galea immediately recognised the officers and thanked them for their quick actions, telling them that had they not intervened so rapidly, he may not have survived. After reflecting on the life-saving moment, the conversation took a lighter turn as they chatted about the ongoing FIFA World Cup.The Malta Police praised both officers for their professionalism and commitment, highlighting their swift response during a critical situation.•
