Residents living in Triq ix-Xitwa and the surrounding area in St Paul’s Bay say they have been left without electricity for four consecutive nights, with power outages lasting for more than seven hours at a time during Malta’s ongoing heatwave.Speaking to Lovin Malta, residents described spending entire nights without electricity, fans or air conditioning, saying the prolonged outages have been especially difficult for families, elderly residents and other vulnerable people. They also expressed frustration over what they described as a lack of communication from Enemalta, claiming they were repeatedly unable to obtain an estimated timeframe for when power would be restored.“The only response we received was, ‘I don’t know’,” residents said, adding that they were left waiting in the dark without knowing whether electricity would return in one hour or eight.According to residents, the issue is not an isolated incident. They claim the same street and surrounding area have experienced repeated outages while neighbouring areas remained unaffected.Residents are now calling for answers on why the power cuts keep happening, what is causing them and what long-term solution will be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. They are also urging authorities to consider compensation for residents affected by the repeated outages, citing spoiled food, sleepless nights and the disruption caused to daily life.Have you been affected by power cuts lately?•
