Dortmund want to make ‘three more really good transfers’

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken revealed the club are looking to make "three more really good transfers" this summer.Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga last season, 16 points behind champions Bayern Munich, while they were knocked out in the play-off round of the Champions League by Atalanta.Niko Kovac's side secured Champions League football while conceding the fewest goals in the league in 2025-26, but it was still a largely disappointing season for the club.Dortmund have already signed teenagers Joane Gadou and Justin Lerma from Salzburg and Independiente del Valle, respectively, though Serhou Guirassy and Felix Nmecha have been linked with moves away from the club.Ricken insists Dortmund will make more signings, but wants to ensure they do not rush and make the wrong choices."Of course, not satisfied with that [our lack of signings]. We want to make one, two, three more really good transfers," said Ricken.“But we want to make the right transfers and not just any transfers that get us short-term applause and then in November we suddenly have a problem.Let's get to work.  pic.twitter.com/VLfgmtW8HF— Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) July 13, 2026“'Were those really the right transfers?' We're taking the time to sign players who will ultimately make us better."We have players that we signed last summer, with [Fabio] Silva, [Carney] Chukwuemeka and [Jobe] Bellingham – I believe they will improve, and that is also our expectation, that they will take the next step."Dortmund's first competitive game of the 2026-27 season comes against Bayern in the DFL-Supercup on August 22.They will then host Hamburg a week later to kick off their Bundesliga campaign. The post Dortmund want to make ‘three more really good transfers’ appeared first on SoccerNews.
