Less than a week after Inside the Magic initially reported damage in the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT, Walt Disney World Resort appears to be addressing the issue. Let’s take a look at the latest update from the second Central Florida Disney park.Damage After the Fourth of JulyCredit: DisneyAfter Walt Disney World Resort removed red, white, and blue signs from the main American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion building at EPCOT, it became immediately clear that the patriotic displays had damaged several columns on the building. The white paint was clearly chipped, and at least one metal anchor had been ripped out of a column, revealing some of the materials inside the structure. This followed the end of the America 250th celebrations at the Central Florida Disney parks and the removal of the Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors exhibit. Although the American Adventure show and the Voices of Liberty choir continue to perform in the building, Walt Disney World Resort is slowly returning the EPCOT World Showcase Pavilion to its usual level of patriotism. Now, the Central Florida vacation destination appears to be repairing the aforementioned damage to the building.Construction in the American Adventure World Showcase PavilionCredit: Steven Miller, FlickrOn July 14, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had covered the four damaged columns with white refurbishment boxes. However, damage is still visible in the area under the “Liberty Theatre” sign.Walt Disney World Resort also appears to be patching paint inside the building following the removal of Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, which featured paintings of military veterans by former president George W. Bush.As previously reported, Walt Disney World Resort filed a construction permit for the American Adventure Pavilion last week. That document listed Tecta America Corp. as the third-party contractor associated with the work. The company describes itself primarily as a roofing contractor, but also works with architectural metals and waterproofing.Credit: Michael Gray, FlickrWalt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on the ongoing construction in the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. Disney rarely issues statements on refurbishments that don’t meaningfully affect the theme park guest experience or result in closures, like this one.Which EPCOT World Showcase Pavilion is your favorite?
