On 16th and 17th June 2026, Malta became a nexus for emerging research talent from across the globe as Xjenza Malta hosted the PF2MT (Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Scheme for Incoming Postdocs to Malta) Masterclass. This is a specialised training event designed to support researchers preparing applications for the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships programme under Horizon Europe. The two-day masterclass brought together postdoctoral researchers from five continents, research supervisors and experts in European research funding, offering participants a unique opportunity to develop competitive project proposals while exploring Malta as a destination for cutting-edge research and innovation.Investing in ExcellenceResearch and innovation increasingly rely on international collaboration, mobility and knowledge exchange. Through PF2MT, selected researchers received support to travel to Malta and participate in intensive proposal-writing training focused on the highly competitive MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call. The masterclass provided participants with practical guidance on transforming innovative research concepts into high-quality funding proposals. Sessions addressed key elements of proposal development, excellence, impact, implementation, career development and communication strategies. These are all critical to success in European funding competitions.Showcasing Malta’s Research PotentialOne of the key objectives of the PF2MT initiative is to position Malta as a leading destination for talented researchers seeking international career opportunities. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are among Europe’s most prestigious research funding instruments, supporting researcher mobility and career development while promoting scientific excellence and international cooperation.
