Matt Turner will play a part in the New England Revolution’s second half of the MLS season. The Revs extended Turner’s loan spell from Lyon through the remainder of 2026, both clubs announced Monday. There is also an option for New England to extend Turner’s stay through 2027, as well as a purchase option. “We are thrilled to reach an agreement with Lyon that will allow us to keep Matt Turner in New England Revolution colors for years to come,” said Revs GM and Chief Soccer Officer Chris Tierney. “Matt’s performances on the pitch here in MLS or on the world stage with the U.S. Men’s National Team speak for themselves. We firmly believe that Matt will continue to be the gold standard for MLS goalkeepers as he builds on his already impressive legacy with the Revolution.”Turner originally rejoined the Revs on loan from Lyon for his second spell with the club. The veteran goalkeeper has registered 54 wins in 126 starts for the Revs, which is good for a .581 winning percentage. Following stops at Arsenal, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest, Turner made his move back to MLS with hopes of earning consistent playing time. The 32-year-old has registered three clean sheets in 14 MLS appearances this year. Turner most recently was part of the U.S. Men’s National Team roster at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has earned 55 senior caps to date with the USMNT, totaling 29 wins and 27 clean sheets. The Revolution sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and resume MLS play on July 22 against Toronto FC.
