A one-year-and-seven-month-old girl from Żabbar is in serious condition after getting into difficulty in the sea at Il-Bajja tal-Magħluq, Marsaxlokk, last night.Police were called to the scene at around 10:30pm after the toddler wandered away from family members and entered the water on her own for a short time. She reportedly swallowed water and began struggling to breathe.Officers and a medical team arrived at the scene, where the girl was already being assisted by relatives. She was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.Magistrate Monica Borg Galea has been informed of the case and appointed an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.•
