Photo by Tima Miroshnichenko on PexelsCeasefire CollapsesThe latest surge in energy prices was sparked by the renewed tensions between the US and Iran.On Friday, Kuwait—one of the world's 10 largest oil producers—said that Iran damaged a power and water desalination plant following a missile attack, sparking a fire that affected a large number of its electricity-generating units.Earlier this month, President Donald Trump signaled the collapse of Washington's temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which could have paved the way for a permanent peace deal, saying in a social media post that the US has reinstated the Iranian blockade in the Strait of Hormuz after Iran allegedly violated the ceasefire terms by continuing to attack or threaten commercial ships and conducting military operations despite the agreement.Iran, which sits along a chokepoint through which roughly 20 percent of the global crude oil supply passes, said that it holds authority over the waterway.Latest available data on Marine Traffic said that a total of 57 transits were recorded in the Strait of Hormuz last weekend, versus 130 daily before the conflict began.Conflicts Fuel Energy RallyThe twin wars, on the other hand, have emerged as a tailwind for energy stocks, with their earnings closely tied to higher natural gas prices and robust global demand.Venture Global Inc. (NYSE:VG), for its part, is up by 24 percent this month alone. In the first quarter of the year, at the onset of the conflict, the company delivered a 23 percent jump in its net income to $488 million from $396 million in the same period last year.Revenues also surged by 59 percent to $4.599 billion from $2.894 billion year-on-year.Venture Global Inc.
