The U.S. Marshals have just taken Andrew and Tristan Tate into custody in Miami on an extradition request from the United Kingdom. The request stems from a wide-ranging investigation into sexual offenses. The brothers, who hold dual American and British citizenship, are now facing a total of 59 charges between them. British authorities have recently authorized 38 additional counts. This new case is now an escalation in the legal troubles for the influencers. According to CNN, the arrests follow an investigation into crimes reported by seven victims. The UK Crown Prosecution Service, or CPS, has been spearheading this case alongside the Bedfordshire Police. Per the BBC, the alleged offenses occurred in the East of England region, specifically between July 2010 and August 2017. The authorities are now moving forward with legal proceedings to have the brothers extradited to the UK to face these accusations. Andrew Tate, age 39, now faces 42 charges. The BBC noted that this includes seven new counts of rape, as well as charges related to sex trafficking and the possession of indecent images of a child. Tristan Tate, age 38, is facing 17 charges in total. This includes two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The arrests are part of a coordinated effort Bedfordshire Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas stated, “Officers from our major crime unit have been working closely alongside the Crown Prosecution Service and both national and international law enforcement agencies as part of this complex investigation.” Per CNN, Thomas noted, “There is no place for male violence against women and girls.” She also added, “We will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us.” The Department of Justice reportedly confirmed that the US Marshals arrested the brothers “pursuant to extradition proceedings.” A spokesperson for the department added that the arrests “were made in accordance with the treaties and law enforcement agreements governing Justice Department extraditions.” The brothers are expected to appear in federal court in Miami sometime next week. Joseph McBride, an attorney for the brothers, issued a statement claiming the pair are innocent and labeling the move as a “political hit.” McBride stated, “There is a long-standing agreement between the UK and Romanian governments that the UK would not seek extradition while the Romanian proceedings are pending. Those proceedings are ongoing right now. That agreement exists because no nation gets to trample the judicial sovereignty of another for political convenience.” McBride further argued that the new charges were intended to counter a defamation action the brothers had filed in the US. He added, “The world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent. Their enemies know it best of all. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.” This isn’t the first time the brothers have faced legal scrutiny. CNN reported that Romanian prosecutors have previously accused them of trafficking women across Romania, the UK, and the US. Per reports, the brothers have consistently rejected those allegations. After Romanian authorities lifted travel restrictions, the brothers arrived in Florida in February 2025. Their time in the US has also been marked by controversy. This has included a criminal probe led by the Office of Statewide Prosecution in Florida. Through the controversy, Andrew has also opined on political developments. Meanwhile, lawyer Matt Jury, who represents several alleged British victims, stated, “Andrew and Tristan Tate are accused of some of the most serious offences, including multiple counts of rape and human trafficking.
