Pet-Basheerabad police arrest three members of motorcycle theft gang, recover 21 stolen bikes - The HinduPublished - July 13, 2026 08:32 pm IST - HYDERABADThe Pet-Basheerabad police arrested three members of an inter-State motorcycle theft gang and recovered 21 stolen motorcycles allegedly lifted from different parts of Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.The arrested men were identified as Bouri Ashok Singh, 19, of Yellammabanda in Kukatpally, Ayalpuram Raghupathi alias Raghu, 22, of Siddipet district, and Bandi Praneeth alias Sonu, 23, also of Siddipet district. Police said all three have previous criminal cases registered against them.They were apprehended near Maisammaguda following an investigation into a series of vehicle thefts.Two other accused, identified as Chaitanya alias Sunny and Suresh, along with two juveniles, are absconding.According to the police, the accused formed a gang and allegedly targeted parked motorcycles across Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. They travelled to different locations in a car, stole motorcycles and fled the scene. During interrogation, the arrested men allegedly confessed to their involvement in 19 cases, while police recovered 21 stolen motorcycles.The gang has so far been linked to six motorcycle theft cases registered this year at the Pet-Basheerabad police station. Further investigation is underway to ascertain their involvement in other cases.Apart from the stolen motorcycles, police seized a Suzuki Ertiga car, three mobile phones, two screwdrivers, five electrical switches, two cutters and two master keys, which were allegedly used to commit the offences.The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
