A Florida man was recently stabbed after allegedly saying no to a friend who wanted to drink beer in their Uber. A short rideshare trip across southwest Miami-Dade has gone viral on the internet, with one passenger facing a felony because of a fight over alcohol. Lynn Marie Zamora, 32, is accused of stabbing a male friend with a pair of scissors after he told her she could not drink alcohol during the ride. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent to a battery call near Southwest 137th Avenue and Southwest 74th Street. There, they found the wounded man and took Zamora, his friend with whom he shared an Uber, into custody. (per WSVN) The two had reportedly been together at a Miami hotel on the night of Monday, July 13, when Zamora ordered the car to take them to a friend’s home. This is according to the arrest affidavit summarized by NBC 6 South Florida. Somewhere along the route, she said she wanted a beer. Her companion told her more than once that alcohol was off-limits inside the vehicle. Per what the investigators wrote, that refusal apparently left her irritated. The argument didn’t stay verbal. Zamora reached into her purse per the reports, and pulled out scissors and stabbed her companion twice — once in the left bicep and once in the left calf. The driver stopped the car and both he and the injured passenger jumped out and dialed 911. Questioned at the scene, the driver backed up the victim’s version of events. Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where staff closed his wounds with staples. The injuries were not life-threatening, per what Tampa Free Press reported. Zamora has been banned from the app, and held on $7,500 bond Uber moved quickly once the case surfaced. “This behavior is alarming and has no place on the Uber platform,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to NBC 6. “We banned the rider from the app and stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation.” It’s also worth noting that the company’s own rules already state that open containers of alcohol are never allowed on its platform. Zamora was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. At her first appearance on July 14, a judge found probable cause and set bond at $7,500. This was after a prosecutor argued she was a flight risk with a criminal history. Her defense attorney asked that she be given hospital treatment. That history includes probation in a separate case involving battery on a person 65 or older. Her next court date is scheduled for August 12, per New York Post. It’s not the only Florida man headline of the week, but it’s certainly among the more alarming.
