Ledley King is confident that one Tottenham summer signing, who has come in for a lot of criticism over recent weeks, will be a success at the North London club.As a result of Spurs’ poor start to the season, many are now scrutinising the club’s summer business and questioning if the recruitment decisions were correct. Some pundits are already writing off some of Tottenham’s new players as not being at the required level to take De Zerbi’s men to the top end of the Premier League. The man who has received the most criticism is the club record signing, Sandro Tonali, who has been dubbed an ‘average’ player, but he is not the only one to receive flak in the media.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramLedley King convinced Jan Paul van Hecke will succeed at TottenhamJan Paul van Hecke’s impact is also under the scanner, with many questioning if Tottenham made a mistake by swapping Luka Vuskovic for the Dutchman. The former Brighton man also came in for criticism from the Dutch media during the international break, but King is convinced of the 26-year-old’s quality, backing him to form a solid partnership with compatriot Micky van de Ven.When asked about Van Hecke, the Tottenham legend told Football.London: “I think he’s a tremendous footballer. His passing range is excellent. Of course, he’ll know Micky well. I think they’re building up a good relationship there. I’ve been impressed by him. It’s not easy when you’re not winning games. We’ve kept a couple of clean sheets so far. There’s plenty to build on, but it’s been good.”King remains confident Spurs will turn around poor startThe media are drumming up suggestions of a crisis at Tottenham, with some pundits already convinced that De Zerbi cannot turn the team’s fortunes around. However, King has no doubts about the quality in Tottenham’s squad and is confident that we will see this team play better once they get their first win on the board. When asked what the Tottenham players can do to come out of this slump, the 45-year-old said: “No choice. You have to find a way. Most of the group have gone through difficult periods, and they managed to find a way out last season.“They’ll have to draw on that to a certain degree, but there is no easy way. You keep working on the training pitch, keep putting the work in. It’s just a confidence thing. These are top players. I’m sure once the first positive result goes for the team, things can turn around very quickly. Just keep working hard, keep believing in yourself. That’s the only way to do it.”READ MORE: When Tottenham’s 15 internationals return to Hotspur Way for trainingThe post 'Tremendous footballer' - Ledley King backs under-fire Tottenham signing to come good appeared first on Spurs Web.
