Hey [r/SideProject](r/SideProject), Every Mac user knows the mild annoyance: you hit the red button to close a window, thinking you're done, only to look down at your Dock and realize the app has been running in the background eating memory all day. I wanted an automated fix, but existing tools were either discontinued or bloated. So I challenged myself to build the lightest, most native macOS utility possible. What went into building it: Zero-polling architecture: Built strictly using macOS Accessibility (AXObserver) events so it sleeps until a window actually closes. Native footprint: Written purely in Swift/SwiftUI, idling at just ~19 MB RAM. Smart behaviors: Added a whitelist system and an ⌥ (Option) key modifier that flips the behavior on demand. The core is open-source on GitHub, and we just went live on Product Hunt today! For anyone here who wants lifetime updates, I created a coupon code PRODUCTHUNT for 100% off DotQuit Pro (first 100 users): - Site & DMG: https://mehmettalhairmak.me/dotquit - GitHub: https://github.com/mehmettalhairmak/dotquit - Product Hunt: https://www.producthunt.com/products/dotquit Would love your feedback on the landing page, usability, or features you'd like to see next! submitted by /u/nhympeexx [link] [comments]
