Croom House Stud enjoyed another outstanding result with prize mare Loch Lein (Invincible Spirit) on Tuesday when her Wootton Bassett colt sold to Godolphin for 3.8 million gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.It was Godolphin's third seven-figure purchase of this opening session, after Sheikh Mohammed's buying team had previously signed for a Frankel colt [lot 27] at 1.8 million gns and a Blue Point filly [lot 40] at 1.1 million gns. All told, the operation has now signed for five yearlings for a total of 7,580,000gns.Lot 87 is a half-brother to another Godolphin runner in Treanmor (Frankel), who joined Charlie Appleby after being purchased for a sale-topping €2 million at Book 1 of the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in 2024. Their dam, Loch Lein, was a dual winner for the Jessica Harrington stable, notably winning the Listed Prix Amandine and finishing third in both the G3 Fairy Bridge Stakes and G3 Sceptre Stakes.“We thought he was a two-million horse coming here, but obviously doubling that is a treat,” said breeder Denis Brosnan of Croom House Stud.“You can never tell what's going to happen, though, until the two powerhouses get into one another. All of the others were in there as well, Juddmonte, Amo. He was a very special horse – he was very special all the time.”The Wootton Bassett colt has already surpassed the sum commanded by the top lot at Book 1 last year, namely the Sea The Stars colt bought by Godolphin for 3.7 million gns.The post Wootton Bassett Colt the New Top Lot at Tattersalls Book 1 at 3,800,000gns, Bought by Godolphin appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
