I got tired of CS server lists full of fake servers, so I built my own

Wait 5 sec.

I've been playing Counter-Strike since 1.6 and one thing always annoyed me: most server lists are full of fake entries, redirect IPs and inflated player counts. You click a "32/32" server and it's empty or sends you somewhere else. So I started building XCSTRIKE (https://xcstrike.com). It's a server list for CS 1.6, CS:S, CS:GO and CS2 where new servers get verified before they show up, and player counts come from live queries every few minutes. It kind of grew from there. Server owners kept asking for stuff, so now there are free online compilers for AMXX, SourceMod and CounterStrikeSharp plugins (no need to install anything locally), live banners they can put in forum signatures, and a CS 1.6 client with a server browser that only shows real servers. Some things I learned the hard way: - shared hosting can't handle rendering banner images, so I moved that to a small VPS running headless Chrome - putting Cloudflare in front fixed a lot of random "site can't be reached" issues - people actually care more about honest player counts than fancy design It's free and I'm running it solo. Would love feedback, especially on what's confusing or missing. submitted by /u/Plane_Candidate_6077 [link] [comments]
