Football finance expert Stefan Borsen has identified one potential concern for Tottenham, as we await a big sponsor announcement from the club.Spurs’ financial health is not in the best of shape, especially given their big spending on transfer fees in the summer and the bumper contracts they have handed out.To make matters worse, a couple of weeks ago, it emerged that one of Tottenham’s sponsors, Sidiz, triggered an early termination clause to exit their partnership at the end of October. This is the second sponsorship Spurs have lost over recent months on the back of their underperformance in the Premier League over the last two years.Photo by SpursWebFinancial expert warns Tottenham regarding front-of-shirt sponsorHowever, these are not the sponsorship deals Spurs should be worried about, according to Stefan Borsen, who suggested the front-of-shirt sponsor should be a much bigger concern.Tottenham’s deal with AIA expires at the end of the current season, and the club are yet to announce a new sponsor.Other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, have had struggles with trying to find an appropriate deal, and the financial expert warned that Tottenham could now suffer the same fate.Borsen told Football Insider: “Those are not the contracts that I’d be worried about. The contract to worry about is, to be honest, the one on the front of the shirt. It’s already October now. I would be expecting to hear about who the new front-of-shirt sponsor is between now and the end of the year.“And if that doesn’t come, that is a concern because that is a signal that they’re drifting into a Chelsea-type situation. And that’s a big problem. That’s what they have to avoid.”Vinai Venkatesham issues austerity warning to Spurs fansIn the recent Fan Advisory Board (FAB) meeting, Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham pointed out that Spurs have not posted a profit since 2019.The Spurs chief admitted that the Premier League’s financial regulations were a genuine constraint for the club in the summer, and that back-to-back 17th-place finishes have dented the club’s revenues.Any potential loss or drop in sponsorship will come as a further blow to Spurs, who may not be in a position to go big again in the next couple of transfer windows.READ MORE: Andy Robertson shines in his 100th cap for Scotland, Tottenham have big decision to makeThe post Tottenham could ‘drift into a Chelsea-type situation’ if new sponsor is not revealed soon appeared first on Spurs Web.
