DARLINGTON, OH—In an obvious attempt to appeal to the county’s different demographic, U.S. House of Representatives candidate Jim Richardson reportedly showed up Monday to a campaign event in a rural part of Ohio’s 12 Congressional District with a different wife. “It’s natural for a candidate to subtly modulate his messaging for different constituencies, and one way we can see that is with the choice of spouse,” said campaign manager Cooper Ingraham, telling reporters that Richardson’s longtime partner Mariam, with her farming roots, love for the outdoors, and strong ties to the Presbyterian community, was a compelling figure for voters in counties with a population density of less than 400 people per square mile. “Of course, if Jim is campaigning in more urban areas like Zanesville or outside Columbus, voters are going to be more excited to see his wife Dr. Bailey Groves-Richardson, the firebrand author and outspoken daughter of immigrants who overcame her poverty-stricken childhood to become a lauded professor of sociology at Case Western.” Ingraham added that the campaign was hoping to firm up Richardson’s support amongst veterans by having him join other war widowers at a memorial for his late wife Sgt. Amy Richardson. The post Congressional Candidate Has Different Wife For Campaigning In Rural Counties appeared first on The Onion.
