I don’t need to run,’ he’d say, then he’d go to the medical department and slack off.”The former Manchester United midfielder added: “When [Duran] went to Zenit St Petersburg, I said, ‘Ooo, now you’re gonna make even more money.’“‘Bro, the more the better, the more the better,’ he’d say. Sometimes when we talked, he’d say, ‘I’ve already saved the lives of me, my family, and three generations…’“At Fenerbahce, at least in the beginning he was showing up for training and stuff, then he completely quit.”Duran joined Fenerbahce on loan from Al Nassr last summer less than six months after completing a £64million switch from Villa.Fred spent three years with Fenerbahce after five years at Old TraffordGettyAfter his stint with the club ended prematurely, he went to Russia to join Zenit St. Petersburg for the remainder of the campaign. The 22-year-old has since moved to Benfica on a season-long loan, his third temporary spell away from Al Nassr. It could become a permanent switch, though, with an option to buy included in the deal.Duran has already scored twice for Benfica in 12 appearances across all competitions. However, only two of those have been from the start, with Duran completing 90 minutes just once.As well as already playing for seven clubs, Duran has been left out in the cold for his national team.Duran joined Benfica on loan this summer, making them his fourth club in 18 monthsGettyHaving made his Colombia debut aged 18 in 2022, he has not added to his three goals in 17 caps since June 2025.His ongoing absence from the side also saw Duran miss out on a place in Nestor Lorenzo’s World Cup squad this summer.talkSPORT verdictDuran was previously labelled a ‘bad egg’ by fellow former Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor after joining Benfica.Speaking in July, the talkSPORT co-host admitted: “When Jhon Duran left Aston Villa, everyone was a little annoyed but the manager did the right thing.“He left Aston Villa for Al Nassr in January 2025 for £65million. Since then, he’s been on loan at Fenerbahce, Zenit and now Benfica, and there’s a buy-option in the loan of £22million.“He’s 22 years of age, in 18 months look at what has happened to him. Sometimes players are bad eggs, and well done to Unai Emery for getting him out.”
