Nurses in all MBU should be mental health trained - Thinking about writing a true story of my experience in a Mother and Baby unit with my second born son. I was a divorcee of an ex-abusive husband. Me and my husband were no longer together and I had a brief relationship, where I fell pregnant with my boy. CPS became involved solely on the basis of my first baby being removed. I should have known better than to not take the legal precautions to trust not a word they said. They drove me 4 hours to Lancashire in the middle of fucking nowhere. A unit where they monitored me and 5 other women on cameras 24/7 in a shared communal area. Regular degular mums. The staff were not trained, the MBU itself was not officially for mentally unwell parents. I did a background check on this place and there was a lot complaints from OFSTED including drug use in the facility. Do I write to the papers? Do I expose them? There's so much absue in the building! They are laughing in a fucking little cabin box room whilst girls are crying in bed. I had a C-section and two days later a nurse dragged me out of my bed, handed me a hoover and made me hoover the room whilst I was bleeding............................................. The staff were horrid.. abusive, verbally gossiping about patients. They took nothing you said into consideration. The staff were not there for you at all, it was all about how they can 'catch you out' if you make a single tiny mistake with your baby. They had a fucking scoring system. Honestly thinking about it now.. it's been 4 months since I left. I cried myself to sleep most nights wanting to leave but I couldn't leave with my boy. Just thinking about it in this moment I feel both a sense of sorrow, anger.. injustice. Injustice that my blood and flesh babies were subjected to this treatment, the fact that they brought me out of the hospital straight into this unit - no mental health issues, I was very stable all because of their 'system' CPS is the most fucking sick, money trafficking.. child snatching fucking sess pool on this planet and the reason I want to write this book is facts. The nurses in this MBU were in Lancashire UK "We're going to put your son up for adoption" - On the basis of old records, the fact you have ptsd from your previous marriage and now we will use that against you in court. They told me the reason was I didn't pass their ' exams of me being a mother'.... Nope, never put my baby at harms way.. not once did I stop feeding him, changing, cuddling everything a mother does. No drugs or alcohol. The choice of where my baby should be placed was made by 'healthcare assistant' working nights - NO QUALIFICATIONS IN NURSING OR MENTAL HEALTH and a social worker, who put forward this shitty exam evidence for why I shouldn't parent my son. The rage is beyond words like you feel like you're fucking going crazy because you know your a good parent - it was honestly the most horrific time of my entire 20's. I am so filled with sadness and anger that mothers are treated so horribly in these places. Many stay silent. They don't speak out about it. I've read accounts of women in prisons giving birth treated with more respect. I want to write and expose them! submitted by /u/QuirkyCoffee_ [link] [comments]
