Some Tottenham fans are fearing that the club could be locked in another relegation battle, but the potential incoming Premier League charges against Man City may be a saving grace for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.According to reports, Spurs and other Premier League clubs have been shocked by Man City’s belligerent behaviour after being found guilty of breaking the financial regulations 114 times.City have appealed the verdict of the Premier League’s independent panel and have maintained that they are completely innocent of all charges levied against them.Tottenham have a personal stake in the outcome as the Lilywhites are one of four clubs to have reserved their right to sue Man City if the guilty verdict is upheld. This is down to the North London club losing out on significant Champions League revenue as a result of City’s alleged cheating. If it’s more than 70 points, they’re effectively relegated.“From a drama point of view, and I appreciate the commission’s not interested in the drama, you give Man City a 50-point deduction, they go to minus 35, there’s 33 matches left to play for, you’ve actually got a fantastic story.“Because they could try and stay up. They could just about stay up. And I think the attitude of the players and everything would be fascinating. But that’s a Hollywood story, rather than, ‘Is that appropriate?’”One would think that if such a huge points deduction is handed to City, Spurs would almost certainly finish above them, and it would come down to two relegation spots, rather than three, thus boosting De Zerbi’s side’s efforts to stay up.However, having said that, one would think that the Lilywhites would be confident that they will not be close to the bottom three at the end of the season after a summer of big investment.Spurs may not have to compete with Man City for multiple yearsMeanwhile, Sky Sports have revealed that the other 19 Premier League clubs are not at all sympathetic to City’s plight, given what City have been found guilty of by the independent panel. The feeling at these clubs is that a points deduction is not sufficient punishment, as it would lead to City just spending one season out of the top flight.Given the brazen nature of how the rules have been broken, the feeling among the clubs is the Manchester club should spend more than one season outside the Premier League. If that comes to pass, it would certainly improve Tottenham’s chances of getting back into the top four and even potentially moving closer to a title charge over the next few years.READ MORE: ‘Nobody better’ – Tottenham source says Roberto De Zerbi is not at risk of winning sack raceThe post Predicted Man City points deduction would drop them well below Tottenham in relegation battle appeared first on Spurs Web.
