Resin creators: what would make a protected STL workflow unacceptable to you?

Wait 5 sec.

I’m trying to understand the practical limits of stronger protection for paid 3D models, specifically for resin-printing workflows. Suppose a paid model could be made significantly harder to casually copy or redistribute, but the normal workflow changed slightly. Which of these would be acceptable to you, and which would be a deal-breaker? needing a dedicated app before slicing; occasional internet authorization; not receiving the original reusable STL directly; limited ability to edit or remesh the original geometry; support for only some slicers at first; needing to export a protected manufacturing file before printing; a small added cost; extra steps when preparing supports, hollowing or splitting. I’m especially interested in resin users because the workflow is often more demanding than simple FDM printing. What is the maximum extra friction you would tolerate before stronger protection becomes worse than the piracy problem itself? And which resin workflow feature absolutely must keep working? submitted by /u/Beautiful_Belt_601 to r/resinprinting [link] [comments]
