I wanted a small Apple TV remote that I could open from my Mac’s menu bar, so I started building TV Remote. It’s a native SwiftUI app with a rounded dark panel, navigation, Home/Back, playback, typing, sleep/wake, and saved pairing. It reconnects to the last TV on launch. Volume support depends on the Apple TV’s audio setup. The app source is on GitHub: https://github.com/chrishansen1984x-lang/tv-remote-mac It’s free, with no ads, subscriptions, analytics, or account requirement. The build targets macOS 14+ and both Apple silicon and Intel. This is an early source preview, not a finished download. A local build is Developer ID signed. Real Apple TV testing, notarization, and confirmation of the upstream library’s license notice are still pending. The repo has local build instructions and fetches ItsytvCore from its original repo rather than bundling it. If you use an Apple TV from your desk, I’d like to hear what you’d want in a Mac remote. Code review and feedback on pairing/reconnection are welcome too. I built this with Codex’s help, and Apple TV connectivity comes from ItsytvCore by Nick Ustinov. submitted by /u/Careful-Trainer2027 [link] [comments]
