The pay-TV channel ESPN has pulled the plug on its coverage of women’s football in the Eredivisie with immediate effect. Last Sunday (4 October), the final ‘Schakel’ programme was broadcast. It featured all the Eredivisie teams that played on Sunday. ESPN has now announced that it needs to make cutbacks. By ending the ‘Schakel’ programme, the commercial broadcaster hopes to save 300,000 euros. On Sunday afternoons, ESPN1 will broadcast two matches (one at 12.15 pm and one at 4.45 pm) from the women’s Eredivisie live. There is also the possibility of broadcasting a match live on Saturday afternoons. submitted by /u/Roller95 [link] [comments]
