I got tired of paying every week for an AI note taker, so I built one that records in-person meetings and lectures

Wait 5 sec.

Disclosure: I'm the solo developer of this app. The problem. I record a lot of in-person meetings and some lectures. The app I was using did a decent job, but it charged $8.99 per week with no monthly plan. That's about $467 a year if you stay on weekly. When I looked at what transcription and an AI summary actually cost to run, it came out around $0.36 per hour of audio. So I built Summio. What it does Records on the phone, in the room. No bot joining a video call. Transcript with every speaker labeled, also in in-person recordings. For a meeting: summary, decisions, action items with owner and due date. The next meeting checks which ones got done. For a lecture: key concepts with definitions, examples, what's likely on the exam, and review questions. Mark a moment while recording and jump back to it later. Desktop app for Mac and Windows for Zoom/Meet/Teams calls, same account. 6 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian. Audio is deleted after transcription. The transcript stays in the account until deleted. Free plan: 1 hour per month, no card. Paid plans add more hours. There is a monthly plan, shown upfront (weekly and annual exist too), and the App Store page shows the price for each country. Stack: Expo / React Native, Supabase, AssemblyAI for transcription and speaker labels, Claude for the analysis, Electron for desktop. What I'd love feedback on: Is the meeting vs. lecture split useful, or is one summary format enough? How many hours a month should a paid plan include? iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6808697851 Site: https://getsummio.com submitted by /u/Competitive-Hunt-316 [link] [comments]
