The O'Callaghan family of Yeomanstown Stud celebrated a massive pinhooking profit at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale on Tuesday when their Ghaiyyath colt – a €200,000 purchase at the Goffs November Foal Sale – was knocked down to Godolphin for 1.3 million gns.“He was an exceptional foal and he's ended up being an exceptional yearling,” said David O'Callaghan. “€200,000 at the time maybe seemed a lot, but he was the best foal, we thought, in Goffs last year. We were delighted to come away with him. Plenty of people said he was the best horse here, too.“Thank you to Sheikh Mohammed and his team. He's a huge supporter of the industry and we're lucky to have him.”The purchase of lot 103 was the seventh of Book 1 for Sheikh Mohammed's all-conquering Godolphin team, with the others including the Wootton Bassett colt [lot 87] who is the most expensive lot sold so far at 3.8 million gns. In total, Godolphin's day one spending spree has now reached 9,255,000gns.The Ghaiyyath colt is out of the winning Kodiac mare Maria Christina, a half-sister to the GII Monmouth Stakes and G3 Gallinule Stakes winner Speaking Of Which (Invincible Spirit). The post Yeomanstown’s 1,300,000gns Ghaiyyath Colt Turns Huge Pinhooking Profit at Tattersalls Book 1 appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
