Spurs Web has outlined the potential Tottenham starting XI Roberto De Zerbi might field if Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke are unable to feature against Manchester United.Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi will certainly have been hoping that none of his players returned from the international break with any major injuries.Spurs had 15 players fly out to represent their countries across the globe, while 14 others remained in N17 to train with De Zerbi. However, of those who travelled, two are now doubts for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Manchester United – Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke, both called up by the Netherlands.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramTottenham face defensive doubts over Van Hecke and Van de VenJan Paul van Hecke featured twice during the September break for the Netherlands, playing against Germany and Serbia. In both matches, the centre-back was solid, though not everyone was convinced, with sections of the Dutch media labelling van Hecke the weakest link after his performance against Serbia.Criticism also followed his display against Germany, but the stats tell a different story. Van Hecke was rated the third-best player on the pitch against Serbia and received a 7.5 rating against Germany – the third-highest for the Dutch side. However, his involvement was cut short after he injured his foot against Serbia, having been stepped on during the match. Van Hecke has since returned to north London after being unable to train, despite finishing the game. His national teammate Micky van de Ven also picked up an injury in the Netherlands’ final match of the break, again against Serbia. Luka Jovic accidentally landed on the centre-back’s wrist, forcing him off after Dutch team doctors recommended his withdrawal. With both players now doubts, De Zerbi and Tottenham will need to work out how to manage in their absence. How Spurs could line up without Van Hecke and Van de VenSpurs Web has reported that there is still a chance both defenders feature against Manchester United. Tottenham’s record at Old Trafford is far from convincing, and they will want to field their strongest XI, which ideally includes van Hecke and van de Ven.Should the pair miss out, the most obvious solution would be to turn to backup options Tosin Adarabioyo and Marcos Senesi as like-for-like replacements.Tosin has yet to start a Premier League game for Spurs, with his only appearance in the league so far coming from the bench against Everton. However, he is no stranger to the English top flight, having made over 100 Premier League appearances.Senesi is different, having already started a match for Spurs this season – the 3-0 defeat to Brentford – and also featuring against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup. He has game time under his belt and should be ready to step in.It would be a huge game for either side, with the fixture already dubbed “El Sackico” by some in the media. If Spurs do make changes at the back, De Zerbi will hope to secure a result regardless. Ben Davies is another option, having recently impressed by keeping Erling Haaland quiet while on international duty with Wales. The backline will look very different if van Hecke and van de Ven miss out, with Pedro Porro also sidelined. That means Archie Gray is primed to start. Here is the XI Spurs Web believes Tottenham could field in the absence of their two starting centre-backs:Kinsky; Gray, Tosin, Senesi, Udogie; Tonali, Bentancur, Maddison; Kudus, Solanke, SavioREAD MORE: Tottenham training footage hints at Roberto De Zerbi’s front four vs Man UnitedThe post How Tottenham could line up vs Man United if Van de Ven and Van Hecke miss out appeared first on Spurs Web.
