I’m a picky eater, and one thing that drives me insane at nicer restaurants is menus that technically describe the ingredients but don't actually tell me what eating the dish will be like. For example: “Grilled octopus, crispy smoky potatoes, rhubarb, chilli, mint, whipped feta, tarragon vinaigrette” Cool. But: How much of each thing is actually on the plate? Is the feta a major flavour or just a small component? What is rhubarb actually like? Is the dish mostly octopus or mostly potatoes? Is the sauce heavy? What does the finished dish actually look like? Am I probably going to like it? My idea is to translate the dish into plain language in seconds, show what the dish actually looks like, explain the taste/texture, and eventually personalize the recommendation based on your preferences. I'm currently building the first prototype and looking for a small group of people to test the first version when it's ready. If this sounds like something you'd actually use, I've opened a small beta list here: https://tally.so/r/Pda8v1 submitted by /u/tobytee49 [link] [comments]
