A Columbus, Ohio Teacher Made 24 Kids Empty Their Halloween Candy Into One Bin. The Reason Was Hidden at the Bottom.

On the morning of November 1, twenty-four second-graders in Ms. Dana Whitfield’s classroom at a public elementary school on the west side of Columbus, Ohio walked in still bouncing off the walls from trick-or-treating — and found a big plastic bin by the door with a taped-on sign that read Candy Drop. One by one, she had each of them pour their entire Halloween haul into it, no exceptions, not even the kid clutching a full pillowcase. Plenty of parents will tell you a teacher has no business touching what a child earned on their own time — and plenty of others will say that’s exactly the kind of entitlement raising a generation that can’t share.
