Central Indiana has seen historic flooding the past few days. The White River has overflowed its banks in and North of Indianapolis. Over the last 48 hours, the river water backed up a small tributary creek that ran adjacent to a large, active rock quarry. The creek overflowed and eroded the land between it and the quarry. As the erosion worsened, the river began back flowing toward the quarry and I now flowing uncontrolled into the quarry. To make matters worse, this has washed out a major road and is now threatening to rupture a large waste water sewer line leading to the nearby waste water treatment plant. submitted by /u/strangemedia6 [link] [comments]
