Scientists have uncovered remarkable evidence of a rainforest that flourished in Antarctica nearly 90 million years ago, despite the region experiencing months without sunlight each year. Fossilised roots, pollen, spores and later-discovered amber preserved in a seabed core are helping researchers reconstruct an unexpectedly warm, wet landscape that existed long before Antarctica became covered by its vast ice sheet.
