Two Square Enix-related announcements came up at the Disney D23 2026. One is the reveal of a Kingdom Hearts the Series anime adaptation that will air on Disney+ and the cable Disney Channel. There’s no release window for the show yet, beyond a general “coming soon” teaser. This follows past direct manga adaptations of the JRPG series. Only an initial image for the Kingdom Hearts the Series anime adaptation showed up at the event. It later appeared online on social media. It showed art of a character from behind. The person is holding a keyblade in the right hand and has it resting on the right shoulder. People online pointed out that it seemed to show a person wearing the same outfit as the character Helgi from the Kingdom Hearts Dark Road game and storyline. Many of those stories were captured, such as the events of the second and even third games. The other bit of information from D23 had to do with the next game in the series. Kingdom Hearts 4 will show up in late 2027. When it does, it will include a new world based on the movie Coco. Kingdom Hearts the Series is in development and will air on both Disney+ and the Disney Channel. We may earn a commission if you purchase from certain links. Learn more here.
