I have to admit (don’t laugh): I grew up in North Dakota, and went to college and lived in Minnesota for 13 years, and I’ve never eaten anything with cream of mushroom soup as an ingredient. I refused to eat anything that even hinted at having mushrooms in it. However, my home can’t exist without butter and shredded Parmesan cheese. I’ll eat plain rice with butter, and I might add some chicken if I had it (I like the Kirkland canned chicken and I always scrimped so I could have a Costco membership). I’ve never tried tuna, so that wasn’t an option for protein for me. I also ate a lot of plain noodles with butter and Parmesan cheese (kind of a lot of both) or sometimes I’d get some jarred Alfredo sauce and I’d add some canned chicken to the Alfredo sauce before I added whatever variety of pasta I had in the house. Heck, I’m almost 50 and I can pretty much eat whatever I want, I’m kind of privileged and once I got through college and got married, I have started to eat new foods. I live in the New Orleans area now, so the diet is pretty much the opposite of what I had for the first ~30 years of my life. I’ve still never tried cream of mushroom soup or tuna (or shrimp, crawfish, etc.) and I can’t eat spicy food at all. I still eat plain buttered noodles with Parmesan or plain buttered rice with chicken. Then I add whatever else I’m cooking to the remaining pasta or rice and my husband eats it. I made shrimp scampi the other night, and I had plain buttered pasta with Parmesan cheese, and the remaining noodles were tossed with the shrimp scampi. I’m too chicken to try new foods, I’m convinced that I’ll gag or throw up. lol. Sorry. Idk why I told you my life story.
