‘BLOs should explain contents of notices’ - The HinduUpdated - August 20, 2026 12:58 am IST - HYDERABADOfficers working on preparation of electoral rolls in Telangana were directed on Wednesday to prepare and implement a detailed, time-bound action plan based on ‘Anomalies’ and ‘No Mapping’ cases. It should include generation and distribution of notices to electors and other crucial activities which are part of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls -2026 in the State. District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have to include hearings and verification of documents, timely disposal of claims and objections in the plan. The instructions were given by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy at a video conference held with DEOs, EROs and AEROs, focusing on claims and objections addressing anomalies, no-mapping cases and related electoral roll issues. As per the draft electoral rolls published on Monday (August 17, 2026), electors with anomalies were 60,50,918 and electors with no mapping category were 32,36,659. Voters in the two categories, a total of 92, 87,577, will be issued notices. And, 73,39,235 were placed under the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) electoral list. The period of filing claims and objections is from August 17, 2026 to September 16, 2026.Booth Level Officers (BLO) were directed to serve notices to the electors concerned. BLOs and BLO supervisors should explain contents of the notices and what has to be done.
