Disney is not perfect, and fans are extremely good at proving it.That is not a criticism so much as an observation about how this fandom operates. Disney fans notice things. They notice when a paint color changes on Main Street, U.S.A. They notice when an audio track gets remixed. They notice when a font on a sign is not the font that was there last year. That attention to detail is a two-way street. Disney built a reputation on obsessing over small things, and the payoff is an audience that obsesses right back. Which means when something slips through, somebody catches it fast, and usually within hours of it hitting shelves.Sometimes the mistake belongs to Disney. Sometimes it belongs to a brand partner. Either way, it ends up on a product with a Disney logo on it, and the internet does the rest. That is exactly what happened this week with a new merchandise release.Walt Disney World has released a new line of apparel in collaboration with SkinnyDip, a fashion brand based in London, England, alongside merchandise celebrating the 45th anniversary of The Fox and the Hound.A character’s name is spelled wrong on two items in the SkinnyDip collection. The TypoTod, the fox, has his name printed as “Todd” on two pieces. One D. The character has always been Tod with one D, going back to the 1981 film.It is a small thing. It is also the kind of small thing that a merchandise line built specifically around a 45th anniversary probably should have caught, especially since the name appears prominently in both designs.SkinnyDip T-Shirt With Spelling Error, $38This white t-shirt features a small design on the front of Tod sitting in front of white daisies. Another white daisy is embroidered on one of the short sleeves. The back depicts Copper the hound dog walking next to several tall white flowers. The “Fox” and “Hound” portions of the movie name are printed in large pink bubble letters.Tod’s name appears here as “Todd.”Typo Found in 'Fox and the Hound' Apparel, 45th Anniversary Merchandise Now Available at Walt Disney Worldhttps://t.co/8ok7TlmyWc— WDW News Today (@WDWNT) August 19, 2026 SkinnyDip Sweatshirt With Spelling Error, $55This dark green sweatshirt shows Copper and Tod sitting on green leaves, with The Fox and the Hound printed in yellow serif letters above them. A pink strawberry is embroidered on one sleeve end.The back features a larger design of Tod and Copper among a strawberry plant, both admiring the same strawberry, with the text “Grow Together” beneath them.Copper and Tod’s names are printed in green next to the strawberry plant, and Tod’s is again spelled “Todd.”Worth noting that this is the second item in the same collection with the same error, which suggests it came from a single source file rather than a one-off mistake at the printer. The 45th Anniversary MerchandiseThe separate anniversary collection does not have the typo, and it is genuinely nice.T-Shirt, $36.99The heads of Copper and Tod are printed on the front chest pocket of this sage green adult t-shirt. The back shows Tod and Copper walking next to each other beneath a white The Fox and the Hound logo, with a plant faintly outlined behind them.Credit: Disney StoreSweatshirt, $59.99This cream pullover has a green collar and hem. Copper and Tod are outlined in green on the front, surrounded by the text “Best of Friends” and “1981,” the year The Fox and the Hound released in theaters. The film’s logo appears on a patch sewn near the hem.Credit: Disney StoreMug, $24.99The standout of the collection. This mug is designed to look like a tree log, with the handle mimicking a tree branch. Tod stands on the branch looking down at Copper, who sits at the base next to several flowers. The back has the film’s logo and “45 years” printed in gold inside a gold shield-shaped outline, with grass and more flowers decorating the base. Smaller errors have quietly stayed on shelves until the product cycled out naturally.Given that this involves a brand partner’s design rather than Disney’s own, and that the items are already stocked in multiple locations, a full recall seems unlikely.Which creates the other possibility. Merchandise with printing errors occasionally becomes collectible specifically because of the mistake. If SkinnyDip corrects future runs, the misspelled versions become a limited thing, and there are collectors who chase exactly that.Worth Knowing Before You BuyIf the typo bothers you, the 45th anniversary collection at World of Disney has none of it, and the log mug in particular is a nicer piece than most anniversary merchandise Disney puts out.If the typo does not bother you, or if it actively appeals to you, the SkinnyDip items are at Disney Ever After.Either way, The Fox and the Hound turning 45 is a reasonable excuse to buy something. The film has aged into one of the more emotionally durable entries in the Disney animated canon, and it does not get merchandise attention often. The post Spelling Error Spotted in New Disney Anniversary Merchandise Line appeared first on Inside the Magic.
