Golden Boot odds: Who leads the way in Europe’s major leagues?

Wait 5 sec.

The race for the Golden Boot varies across all of Europe’s major leagues.Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has been the front-runner in the Premier League since his arrival in England. Harry Kane has been even more dominant in Germany, winning the award for three successive seasons since joining Bayern Munich from Spurs. In Spain, Kylian Mbappe is expected to win the Pichichi for the third straight season. However, he could face competition from Lamine Yamal, Julián Alvarez and Mikel Oyarzabal.Lautaro Martínez has finished as the top scorer in two of the last three seasons in Italy’s Serie A, while in Ligue 1 in France, Esteban Lepaul picked up the award last season, beating off competition from all of PSG’s superstar forwards. In the majority of the major leagues there has been a standout candidate most seasons. The latest Golden Boot odds tell us that the bookmakers don’t see that changing this season, but we can see some value looking beyond the obvious big name candidates. Premier League Golden Boot – can anyone challenge Erling Haaland?Erling Haaland has won this award three times in the past four seasons. Only Mohamed Salah prevented the Norwegian from making it four from four when he top scored with 29 goals in Liverpool’s 2024/25 title-winning season.Haaland is rightly the favourite to again be the top scorer in the Premier League. But with Manchester City possibly going through a period of transition, could it be that strikers from other clubs can give him a real challenge this season?Going in his favour, there have been no major goalscoring arrivals at the Premier League’s big clubs so far this summer. The main contenders are all players already established in the English top flight.   Alexander Isak will be keen to make up for his disappointing debut season at Liverpool. The Reds will be relying on him to hit the ground running with Hugo Ekitike set to be out for some time with his Achilles injury.Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres is also entering his second season in the Premier League. The Swede is set to get more chances in an Arsenal team likely to play with more freedom after securing the league title a few weeks ago.Elsewhere, Joao Pedro impressed in his first season with Chelsea, and staying in London, Igor Thiago will be keen to prove last season wasn’t a one-off at Brentford. The 2025/26 Premier League Golden Boot raceIgor Thiago did briefly threaten to dethrone Erling Haaland last season. However, the Brazilian dropped off towards the end of the season, allowing the City striker to pick up his third Golden Boot. Antoine Semenyo never really looked like catching Haaland, while Ollie Watkins had a poor start to the season that left him with too much work to do.RankPlayerTeamGoals1Erling HaalandManchester City272Igor ThiagoBrentford223Antoine SemenyoBournemouth / Man City174Ollie WatkinsAston Villa165Morgan Gibbs-WhiteNottingham Forest155Joao PedroChelsea15Erling Haaland’s numbers have decreased in recent years. When he won the award in 2022/23, he scored a remarkable 36 goals in 35 matches. That broke the Premier League record. He has since won with 27 goals in 2023/24 and 27 again last season. It’s harsh to say his level has dropped given he broke the record in his first season. But one thing worth noting is his decreasing ratio has coincided with City’s dominance coming to an end.Prediction for Premier League Golden BootIt’s hard to know if Igor Thiago can maintain his scoring ratio this season. The Brazilian and his club side Brentford had an outstanding 2025/26, but the Premier League is extremely competitive and it could be that the biggest threat to Haaland comes from elsewhere. Alexander Isak is second in the betting, with Thiago third. Chelsea’s Joao Pedro is fourth favourite and he could be one to watch. The Londoners have no European distractions and with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers pulling the strings, the Brazilian is likely to get plenty of chances and should improve on last season’s 15-goal tally. At odds-on, Haaland looks too short to back, especially given City’s possible period of transition. A wager on Joao Pedro to top score at 16/1 each-way looks like the way to go.The Chelsea striker has to finish in the top four goal scorers for the each-way part of the bet to win at a quarter of the odds. Back Joao Pedro to be top scorer at 16/1 each-way with bet365 Bundesliga Golden Boot – can anyone challenge Harry Kane?Harry Kane has been sensational during his spell at Bayern Munich in Germany. He has won the Golden Boot three years running, scoring 36 goals in 2023/24, 26 goals in 2024/25 and 36 goals in 2025/26. In doing this, Kane became the first player to win the Torjägerkanone in his first three seasons in the Bundesliga.Kane’s biggest rivals to win the Golden Boot is likely to come from within his own team.Michael Olise has also been hugely impressive during his time in Germany. The former Crystal Palace winger has not only scored plenty, but also provides assists for fun. Also potentially rivalling Kane could be another teammate in Luis Diaz, who will be starting his second season at the club. Bayern also signed Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven in the summer. The Moroccan scored 15 goals in 27 matches in the Eredivisie last season. Expect that tally to increase in Germany, where he should be presented with plenty more gilt-edged chances.Deniz Undav scored 19 goals in 29 matches for Stuttgart last season, while Serhou Guirassy also enjoyed a successful campaign netting 17 times in 33 games for Dortmund. For anybody to have a realistic chance of outscoring Harry Kane in 2026/27, the England captain would have to miss a large chunk of the season. Kane has averaged roughly a goal a game in his three seasons in Germany. His record has been remarkably consistent.Last season he scored 36 goals in 31 matches, averaging 1.16 goals per game. Undav averaged 0.66 goals per game and Guirassy 0.52. That is some gap to bridge. The 2025/26 Bundesliga Golden Boot raceHarry Kane simply dominated the Golden Boot race in Germany last season. The Bayern striker’s position at the top of the scoring table was never in doubt from start to finish. Kane began the season with a hat-trick on the opening weekend and had already scored ten goals by the end of Matchday 5. RankPlayerTeamGoals1Harry KaneBayern Munich362Deniz UndavVfB Stuttgart193Serhou GuirassyBorussia Dortmund174Patrik SchickBayer Leverkusen165Luis DiazBayern Munich155Michael OliseBayern Munich15The Golden Boot winner in Germany has scored more than 30 goals in five of the past seven seasons. Harry Kane has raised the bar back to the sort of levels set by Robert Lewandowski when the Pole scored over 30 goals in each of his final three seasons in Bavaria. Given their dominance of the Bundesliga, it’s hard to see the winner coming from anybody other than a Bayern player again. Prediction for Bundesliga Golden BootDeniz Undav and Serhou Guirassy are regarded as Kane’s main rivals to win the Golden Boot. Both are all the way out at 12/1, and barring something extraordinary happening, it’s hard to see either toppling the Englishman.Of the two, Borussia Dortmund’s Guirassy is probably the best value betting option. Dortmund finished a comfortable second in the table last season and look the team most likely to be Bayern’s closest rivals again this year. Bayern just look too strong and are set to win the league again. Kane should also win the Golden Boot, but is too short at 2/5. So for a value bet, we are going for Kane’s teammate Michael Olise to top score and backing him each-way at 25/1. Olise was one goal away from being in the top four scorers last season and we see no reason why he can’t improve on that in the upcoming campaign. Back Michael Olise to be top scorer at 25/1 each-way with BetMGM La Liga Golden Boot – can Mbappe win three in a row?Kylian Mbappe is a goal machine. Before arriving in Spain, he top scored six times in France with PSG. He has now added two Golden Boots in Spain to his collection. Mbappe scored 31 goals in 34 matches in his debut campaign for Real Madrid and he followed that with 25 goals in 31 matches last year. He is going for a hat-trick of Pichichi wins this season. Last season’s runner-up Vedat Muriqi has departed Spain for Fenerbahçe in Turkey. Elsewhere, Atletico’s Julian Alvarez will be a threat, as will Lamine Yamal of Barcelona. Yamal scored 16 goals in 28 matches for Barcelona last season at a rate of a goal every 1.75 matches. Mbappe averaged a goal every 1.24 matches. Yamal’s ratio is only going to get better, but he’s still some way off catching Mbappe.Another thing to look out for in Spain this year is who Barcelona might buy. They have lost Robert Lewandowski and have had a bid for Julian Alvarez to replace him turned down.If Barça land Alvarez it will be a game changer. The Argentine will immediately become a front runner to win the Pichichi. If the Catalans don’t manage to sign Alvarez, keep an eye on who does come in. If he is a top-class striker, then whoever he is will be a serious threat to Mbappe making it three Golden Boots in a row. The 2025/26 La Liga Golden Boot raceKylian Mbappe had scored 23 of his 25 goals by Matchday 23 last season. A combination of injuries and lack of form meant the Frenchman only managed two goals across the last 15 La Liga matchdays.  Vedat Muriqi was Mbappe’s closest rival. The Kosovan was consistent across the season, but a drop off in goalscoring form saw him score just twice in his final seven matches. It has to go down as a chance spurned by Muriqi.RankPlayerTeamGoals1Kylian MbappeReal Madrid252Vedat MuriqiReal Mallorca233Ante BudimirOsasuna174Ferran TorresBarcelona164Vinicius JuniorReal Madrid164Lamine YamalBarcelona16The 30-goal or better mark has only been achieved twice in Spain in the past seven seasons. The Golden Boot was won with totals of 25, 24, 23, 27 and 25 goals on the other five occasions. In the previous four seasons only Kylian Mbappe has bettered the 20-goal mark for Real.Barcelona are much the same. Their top scorer last season had just 16 goals. The difference is the Catalans shared the goals around and had four players in double figures. This brings players from outside the top two teams into the equation. Vedat Muriqi proved last season it could be done. He’s gone now, but others worth keeping an eye on this season are Mikel Oyarzabal of Real Sociedad and Ante Budimir of Osasuna.Prediction for La Liga Golden BootAs a result of the lack of serious alternatives, Kylian Mbappe is still the player to beat to win the Golden Boot. The only way we can see him not winning the Pichichi again is if Barcelona manage to prise Julian Alvarez away from Atletico. Mbappe is 4/7 and looks the obvious candidate. But again, we’re looking towards the each-way market and think Julian Alvarez at 20/1 offers some good value. If he does join Barcelona before the transfer window closes, his odds will significantly decrease, so he’s worth backing now. Back Julian Alvarez to be top scorer at 20/1 each-way with bet365 Serie A and Ligue 1Just 17 goals were required to win the Paolo Rossi Award in Serie A last season. Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez was the player to reach that total and walk away with the Golden Boot for the second time. It was the lowest winning total since a certain Diego Maradona top scored with just 15 goals for Napoli back in 1987/88. Over 20 goals have been required to win this award since the 1990/91 season. Furthermore, the 24 goals Martinez required to win this award in 2023/24 was the lowest total since 2014/15, suggesting last season was simply an anomaly. Martinez is the favourite to win again this season. The Inter striker is 11/4, which doesn’t look like great value to us. Instead, we’re going for AC Milan’s Goncalo Ramos. The Portuguese striker arrived on a big money transfer from PSG this summer and we expect him to do well in Italy. He is available at 11/2. Back Goncalo Ramos to be Serie A top scorer at 11/2 with Betfred Esteban Lepaul of Rennes top scored in Ligue 1 last season with 21 goals in 34 matches. Despite outscoring all of PSG’s superstars, there hasn’t been a glut of Premier League clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old Frenchman.  Bradley Barcola was the highest scoring PSG forward with 11 goals. However, the caveat has to be added that the Parisians focused on the Champions League and often rested most of their star forwards for the domestic competitions. Ousmane Dembele was injured for a lot of the season and Enrique opted to leave him out if there was even the slightest doubt. If the Frenchman is fitter this season, we would expect him to feature far more often.Dembele was joint-top scorer alongside Mason Greenwood in the 2024/25 campaign with both scoring 21 goals. Greenwood has departed for Fenerbahçe, leaving Dembele to be installed as the 3/1 favourite this season.Lepaul is second favourite at 9/2, while the scorer of the winning goal in the World Cup final and new PSG signing Ferran Torres is 7/1.His PSG teammates Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue are 7/1 and 8/1, while another well known name from the World Cup, Folarin Balogun is 10/1. Another name that caught the eye is Lois Openda. The Belgian international is on loan to Lyon from Juventus and was previously linked with a move to the Premier League prior to agreeing to move to France.Openda has a point to prove after scoring just one goal in 24 matches in Italy last season. In his spell at RB Leipzig in Germany, he scored 24 goals in 34 matches in the 2023/24 season. The ability is there, it’s simply a case of getting him firing again. The move to France could be perfect for the Belgian. The pressure is now off and at Golden Boot odds of 14/1, Openda looks a good wildcard to be Ligue 1 top scorer.
