The full-time whistle has blown in the friendly clash between Tottenham and Hoffenheim and it is time for our player ratings.Photo by SpursWebTottenham player ratings vs HoffenheimAntonin Kinsky – The Tottenham shot-stopper was barely called into action in the first half, although Hoffenheim did have a few efforts on goal. In the second half, however, he was forced into a couple of saves but proved equal to the task. 7.Archie Gray – Being deployed at full-back, Gray hardly put a foot wrong across the two halves. The full-back had to pick his moments to join in attack and overlap Moore. In the first half, he was solid defensively and in the second half, he picked up from where he left things, making several tackles and interceptions at the back. 8.Jan Paul van Hecke – The centre-back was impressive in the first half with his passing, which was very crisp and often progressive. In the second half, Hoffenheim did look to cause Spurs more trouble at the back and van Hecke showed he could do the dirty work, getting stuck in and making tackles as well. 7.Marcos Senesi – It was a solid display overall from the Argentine, who never shied away from receiving the ball across the two halves. Senesi’s passing was just as impressive, with the centre-back often looking to pick out forward players. 7.Andy Robertson – He was one of Spurs’ best performers from the first half, with Robertson offering a threat when attacking and also offering defensive solidity at the back. He grabbed the assist for Spurs’ opener when his cutback found Richarlison. In the second half, he seemed to hold the width for Tottenham while Tel tucked inside more. His first-time crosses, though, were few and far between. 8.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramSandro Tonali – The new signing played a big role in the opening goal for Tottenham in the first half when he drove into Hoffenheim’s half before laying off the ball to Robertson for his assist. In the second half, he continued to operate from defensive midfield, getting tackles and interceptions in while also keeping Tottenham ticking. 8.Lucas Bergvall – The midfielder looked sharp throughout this game. In the first half, he was full of running, often dropping deep to offer a passing option for Kinsky when Tottenham looked to play out from the back. He also showed a willingness to help in attack when he drove from deep and struck from range, drawing a save from Baumann. In the second half, he did have fewer involvements and did not get on the ball as much as he did in the first 45. 6.5.Conor Gallagher – De Zerbi continued to deploy Gallagher in the number ten position in this one, with the Englishman starting in that position from the off here. Gallagher, however, did not create any clear-cut chances in either the first or second half, although he linked up well with his teammates. 6.Mikey Moore – The youngster was a really bright spark for Tottenham in the first half, with his direct play on the right wing seeing him take on his man and cause Hoffenheim a lot of problems. In the second half, he showed his goalscoring prowess, meeting Tel’s cross into the box and doubling the Lilywhites’ lead. Moore then got his second of the afternoon after another beautiful link-up with Tel in the Hoffenheim box. 9.Richarlison – Tottenham could well have scored more than one in the first half had Richarlison been more alert to the crosses put into the box by his teammates. The Brazilian eventually got his goal late on in the first half after a Robertson cutback, while in the second half he had a few sights of goal but nothing clear-cut. 8.Mathys Tel – The Frenchman struggled to find space in the first half, with Hoffenheim doubling up on him and limiting his impact on the game. In the second 45, there seemed to be a tweak in Spurs’ setup, with Tel tucking in instead of holding the width. That allowed for more one-versus-ones for the wide forward, who finally had some wriggle room and assisted Spurs’ second of the afternoon. He grabbed another assist late in the second half after some nice bit of play in the box. 9.Spurs substitutesMalachi Hardy – Came on for Marcos Senesi. N/A.Jamie Donley – The midfielder replaced Lucas Bergvall as De Zerbi looked to freshen things in the middle of the park.
