Radio personality Frank Zammit has revealed that he believes he has hosted his final radio show, sharing an emotional statement about his departure from Vibe FM after more than a decade on the station.In a lengthy social media post, Zammit reflected on his journey at Vibe FM, which began in June 2011, saying he always gave “nothing but my absolute best for the brand”, even when it came at a significant personal cost.The former presenter and manager said his departure from a management role over a year ago was deliberately kept quiet to avoid damaging the station’s image while he continued co-hosting a weekly programme.However, Zammit said he felt the station had changed considerably in recent years.“The truth is things changed a lot and seeing something so many people worked hard to build become unrecognisable is disappointing,” he wrote.He went on to claim that he first learned he was being replaced on his weekly radio show through an external source rather than through the station itself.According to Zammit, someone contacted him after hearing that Vibe FM was looking for a replacement because “Frank is leaving”, despite him not having been informed of any such plans.“24 hours later I was called in for a quick meeting. Knowing what was being planned I made life easy for everyone, returned the keys and walked away,” he said.Zammit also appeared to criticise the working environment at the station, saying that standing up to “bullies”, challenging what he viewed as unprofessional behaviour and calling out “toxic energy” ultimately led to his exit.“If standing up to the bullies, expressing disapproval when you feel things aren’t being handled professionally and calling out toxic energy means you will be told your services are no longer required then I count this as a blessing in disguise,” he wrote.Despite the circumstances surrounding his departure, Zammit thanked listeners who supported him throughout his radio career and said he looks back on the experience with pride.“To all those who tuned in at some point and supported my radio adventure thank you,” he said. “If I could turn back time I would do most of it all over again.”Photo credits to @zibga•
