SDPI leader booked for derogatory remarks against MLC C.T. Ravi - The HinduPublished - August 20, 2026 08:09 pm IST - KALABURAGIThe police have registered an FIR against Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) leader Syed Aleem Ilahi for making derogatory remarks against BJP leaders, including MLC C.T. Ravi, and issuing threats during a public speech.The case has been registered under Sections 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by Mahesh Gowli in Kalaburagi.According to the complaint, Mr. Ilahi addressed a protest organised by the Young Democrats in Kalaburagi on July 25. While addressing the protest rally, he made derogatory remarks against the BJP leaders and used objectionable language against Mr. Ravi, besides issuing threats.Mr. Gowli submitted a video clip of the speech to the police on August 18 and sought legal action. The Station Bazaar Police have registered a case.
