Outer Banks has ended after five seasons, but the story of Kildare Island—and its frequently feuding residents, the Pogues and Kooks—is far from over.The show’s creators, Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, have been flirting with the idea of creating a prequel series since long before Outer Banks came to an end, with the intention of exploring the origins of Kildare’s socioeconomic conflicts 20 years prior to the events in the main series.Per Deadline, “the prequel only recently came together and entered formal development at Netflix where it has been gaining momentum”—but a plot already seems to be taking shape. But they’re 20 years before, so it’s the parents’ generation.”Outer Banks does offer some clues to who could be potentially featured. John B, JJ, Sarah, and Rafe’s dads have all been featured throughout the duration of the show, in addition to Topper’s mother and grandfather and Pope’s and Kiara’s grandparents, laying the groundwork for their younger counterparts to make it on-screen. And fans of the show could potentially anticipate JJ’s birth parents to make an appearance, after their reveal in season 4.Has it started filming yet?Not yet.
