Four artworks by Antonello da Messina were stolen from a museum. The theft occurred overnight on an Italian national holiday. Thieves took only works that never left the painter's hometown. This theft deprives Messina of unique Renaissance art pieces. Italian police recently recovered other stolen paintings.
