Six Italian nationals have been arrested at Malta International Airport in connection with the vandalism of cars in Swieqi earlier this week.The arrests come after CCTV footage showed a group of men walking through a residential street, with one appearing to strike the side-view mirror of a parked car before continuing down the road.Swieqi Deputy Mayor Jordan Galea Pace had said four vehicles belonging to four different residents and families were damaged during the incident.In an update, Galea Pace said the six Italian nationals were arrested at the airport in connection with the case.Police investigations remain ongoing to establish who was responsible for the damage.Galea Pace thanked the Swieqi Community Police Team, as well as residents and a short-let operator who cooperated and helped authorities identify the individuals.The incident had prompted the deputy mayor to once again speak out against late-night vandalism and anti-social behaviour in the locality, saying residents had had enough and that visitors were expected to respect residents, their property and Maltese laws.It follows heightened concerns over disorder in Swieqi this summer, with police and Armed Forces personnel recently stepping up their presence in the locality.Investigations into the latest case remain ongoing.•
