AUDTHB Eyes China DataAUSTRALIAN DOLLAR / THAI BAHTFX_IDC:AUDTHBYES_Group- Friday Recap AUDTHB closed at 23.45, trading within a range with volatility driven by movements in both the Australian dollar and Thai baht. Meanwhile, the market was waiting for key economic data from China and Thailand to determine the short-term direction. - Fundamental Analysis | 17 Aug 2026 AUDTHB is expected to trade within a range with some volatility. There are no major economic data releases from Australia today, so the market is likely to focus primarily on developments in China and Thailand. In China, the market will monitor Industrial Production, forecast at 4.8% versus 5.3% previously, and Retail Sales, forecast at 1.6% versus 1.0% previously. If Chinese economic data comes in better than expected, it could support the outlook for the Chinese economy and provide a positive boost to the AUD. Meanwhile, Thailand’s Q2 GDP came in better than market expectations. GDP YoY was reported at 1.9%, above the 1.7% forecast, although slowing from the previous reading of 2.8%. GDP QoQ came in at -0.2%, better than the -0.6% forecast. This could support the Thai baht and put downward pressure on AUDTHB in the short term. Overall, AUDTHB could be influenced by factors from both sides. If Chinese economic data comes in better than expected, it could support the AUD and limit downside pressure on AUDTHB. However, if Chinese data disappoints while the Thai baht continues to receive support from better-than-expected GDP, AUDTHB could face further downward pressure. - Technical Analysis Bias: Sideway to Slightly Bullish AUDTHB maintains a Sideway to Slightly Bullish outlook after moving higher within an uptrend and holding above key support zones. However, the pair is currently consolidating after testing the upper range, suggesting that short-term price action may remain range-bound before a clearer direction emerges. From a Fibonacci perspective, price remains above the 0.5–0.618 zone around 23.45–23.43, which acts as an important support area. If price can hold above this zone, buying pressure could return, potentially pushing the pair toward resistance at 23.46. A clear break above this level could open the way for further upside toward the 23.47 target. However, if price breaks clearly below 23.43, short-term bullish momentum could weaken, increasing the possibility of a pullback toward the next support around 23.41. Resistance: 23.46 / 23.47 Support: 23.45 / 23.43 Target: 23.47 Cut Loss: Below 23.43
