A Maltese artist got an unexpected shoutout from one of the world’s biggest DJs after Calvin Harris shared one of his paintings on Instagram while in Malta for Summerdaze.Julian ‘Julinu’ Mallia revealed that Harris featured his artwork, titled “You Were Always On My Mind”, on his Instagram Story after coming across the original oil painting during his time on the island.The artwork, which is currently part of a private collection, depicts multiple versions of Elvis Presley stacked on top of one another, each appearing to passionately sing their hearts out. His paintings are often marked by surreal imagery, subtle humour and cultural references, drawing on his background in psychology to create layered visual narratives.Over the years, his work has earned recognition both locally and abroad, including accolades from the AOI World Illustration Awards in the UK and Malta’s Premju għall-Arti.
