The Ministry of Education and Sports has opened applications for the Algerian Government Scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year, offering 200 undergraduate slots across nine fields of study at Algerian universities. The biggest allocation goes to Science and Technology (Engineering) programmes, including electrical, aeronautic, civil, petro-chemical, mechanical, mining, water, industrial, telecommunication and transportation engineering, with 50 slots on offer. Medical Sciences, covering Medicine, Dental Surgery and Pharmacy, comes next with 40 slots. Architecture and Urban Planning has 25 slots, while Mathematics and Computing and Agronomic Sciences each have 20. Earth and the Universe (Geophysics, Geology) has 15 slots, and Science of Matter, Veterinary Science, and Science of Nature and Life round out the list with 10 slots each. Instruction across all programmes is offered in French or English. To qualify, applicants need at least 2 principal passes in the essential subjects for their chosen field at A-Level, must be below 25 years old at the time of application, and must have sat their A-Level exams not more than two years ago. Anyone already on government sponsorship or another scholarship is not eligible to apply. There’s a catch worth budgeting for early: successful candidates will have to buy their own one-way air ticket to Algeria at the start of study, and everyone admitted will first go through a mandatory one-year French language course before beginning their programme.Application forms can be downloaded from www.education.go.ug and either emailed to scholarships@education.go.ug or hand-delivered as a typed application indicating age, sex, course, home district, phone contact, email address, copies of academic documents and a passport photo. Physical copies go to the Secretary, Central Scholarships Committee, Department of Higher Education, 3rd Floor Wing A, Legacy Towers Room 9 or 15, Kyadondo Road, Kampala. The deadline is Thursday, 3rd September 2026 at 5:00 PM. The shortlist will be published on the Ministry’s website and pinned on notice boards at Legacy Towers on Friday, 11th September 2026.Anyone still sitting on their A-Level results or passport application should get moving now, given the tight verification window before the September deadline. The post 200 Slots Up for Grabs as Algeria Opens Scholarships for Ugandan A-Level Leavers was written by the awesome team at Campus Bee.
