Coolmore Team Strike for €1.4m Kingman Colt at Arqana

Wait 5 sec.

Less than 90 minutes into Monday's final session of the Arqana August Yearling Sale, White Birch Farm's Peter Brant took his spend on the day beyond €3 million when forking out €1.4 million for lot 187, a Kingman full-brother to the Prix de Diane heroine Sparkling Plenty.Acting through agent Michel Zerolo of Oceanic Bloodstock, Brant had already secured lot 177, a Siyouni filly closely related to his Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Sottsass, for €1.65 million. It was just 10 lots later that the Kingman colt went through the ring as part of the Coulonces draft, being offered on behalf of owner-breeder Jean-Pierre Dubois. He now looks set to enter the Coolmore fold after the hammer came down at €1.4 million, with that operation's MV Magnier on speaking duties afterwards. He said, “It's a family that we know well. We bought Sparkling Plenty [for €5 million] a couple of years ago and she is in foal to Justify. Kingman has worked well with the family and the Dubois family are very good breeders.”In addition to Sparkling Plenty, lot 187 is a full-brother to the G3 Jersey Stakes winner Noble Truth. Their dam, the unraced Speralita (Frankel), is herself a half-sister to the six-time top-level winner Stacelita (Monsun) who, in turn, is the dam of the G1 Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) scorer Soul Stirring (Frankel). The post Coolmore Team Strike for €1.4m Kingman Colt at Arqana appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
