Tamil Brahmi inscriptions were recently identified in ancient Egyptian tombs. These inscriptions reveal Tamil merchants travelled deep into Egypt, not just its ports. The name Cikai Korran appears on several rock-cut tombs, indicating longer stays. This discovery provides fresh evidence of two-way trade between ancient India and the West. The findings suggest extensive ancient Indian mercantile connections across the Mediterranean region.
