BSNL to upgrade 690 towers to 4G in Mysuru region, rolls out I-Day offers - The HinduPublished - August 14, 2026 07:40 pm IST - MYSURUBSNL is set to strengthen rural connectivity in the Mysuru Business Area, with 690 mobile towers across Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts planned for upgradation to 4G services.Announcing the initiatives ahead of Independence Day, BSNL Mysuru Business Area General Manager Rajendra Kumar Singh said more than 90% of the 76 villages identified as uncovered under the 4G Saturation Project had already been provided indigenous 4G services.He said the services had been installed and made operational using 100% indigenous technology developed under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.BSNL has also announced a series of promotional offers for consumers. The ‘Freedom 2.0’ offer, valid until September 12, is available to new mobile users. It provides a SIM for a nominal ₹1 recharge, along with 1 GB of data per day, 100 SMS per day and unlimited calls for 24 days.Under its fibre broadband offer, BSNL is providing a ₹88 monthly discount for six months, bringing the monthly tariff down to ₹1,111 from the regular ₹1,199. The plan offers 200 Mbps speed, 5,000 GB monthly data, a free dual-band Wi-Fi ONT, access to more than 25 OTT platforms and unlimited voice calls.The ₹2,399 annual mobile plan offers 412 days of validity, including 47 additional days, with 2 GB of data per day, 100 SMS and unlimited calls, according to a BSNL release.BSNL has also listed its satellite phone at ₹1,34,166, including taxes, targeting remote and critical operations. The device comes with SOS emergency support and voice-calling facilities.Under the BharatNet rural FTTH initiative, broadband connections are being offered at ₹259 a month for 25 Mbps and ₹399 for 40 Mbps, with zero installation charges under the Digital Bharat Nidhi scheme.The telecom major has also invited local cable operators, entrepreneurs, MSMEs and individuals to join the BharatNet Udyami Partner scheme for providing last-mile connectivity.
